A long time ago, before the World was turned upside down by the COVID pandemic, a Dry February fund-raiser took place to buy a new of strips for the Gala Fairydean Rovers 2006 Squad. A total of £400 was raised thanks to the generosity of so many who sponsored Kenny Wilson and Robert Fairburn to go the whole month abstaining from alcohol.
It was a long month but they achieved their goal and have now handed over the cash to Fred Blackie and Debi Ritchie of the Gala Fairydean Rovers Community Trust.
The Trust - formed last September - will have its name on the front of the 2006 Squad strips. The fund-raising charitable trust was founded to support football-related initiatives in the Galashiels area. Gala Fairydean Rovers Academy thank Kenny and Robert for raising money for the new strips and are on the look out for sponsors to get new strips for the various other age groups.
