FINAL LEAGUE GAME

GALA Fairydean Rovers are on the road for the final game of the 2016-17 Lowland League campaign this Saturday with a trip to Broadwood Stadium to face Cumbernauld Colts (kick off 3pm) Gala are aiming for their highest ever finish in the table so will be looking for a victory to keep them above Vale of Leithen and Whitehill Welfare who are just a point behind. A supporters bus will be running to this game. Meet at the clubrooms at 11.45a.m. for a 12 noon departure.

The cost of the return journey is just £6.

AGM

THE annual general meeting of Gala Fairydean Rovers Youths will take place in the clubrooms this evening(Wednesday) at 7pm. There will be some exciting proposals for the future of youth football in Galashiels put forward at the meeting so a good turn-out is requested. Everyone interested in helping youth football in the town develop is invited to attend.

LOTTO

THERE were two winning tickets in the weekly Gala Fairydean Rovers Lotto draw. The numbers were 2, 7 and 16 Natalie Tolmie and Louise Templeton share the £1,400 jackpot.

BONUS BALL

The winner of the weekly Gala Fairydean Rovers Bonus Ball competition was Jack Allison with number 48 which earned him £25.

2004 SQUAD

The under 13s have two midweek league matches coming up.On Thursday, April 27, they are away to Peebles and on Thursday, May 4 they travel again, this time to Penicuik. Transport times to be confirmed at training.

2002 SQUAD

The under 15s are away to Craigroyston BC in a league match on Sunday. Transport times to be confirmed at training.

50/50 DRAW

The winner of the 50/50 Half Time draw at the Gala Fairydean Rovers v Gretna match on Saturday was Jason Grainger who collected £36.

WALKING FOOTBALL

The Zest Blinds Scottish Borders Walking Football Tournament, arranged by Scottish Borders Council and Gala Fairydean Rovers takes place on Sunday, May 7 at the 3G Arena, Netherdale, Galashiels between 2pm and 5pm.

SCOTTISH CUP

DUE to away matches, there is no live action at the 3G Arena this weekend. But the clubrooms will still be open showing the Hibernian v Aberdeen Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park on Saturday, kick off 12.15p.m. and fo the Celtic v Rangers tie the following day.

MANCHESTER CITY

Gala Fairydean Rovers are hosting an evening with Life President of Manchester City Football Club, Bernard Halford on Friday. The Question and Answer event will take place in the club’s Red and Black Lounge. Mr Halford is the only non-player to be inducted into the Manchester City Hall of Fame and was asked to join the team on the balcony at Wembley Stadium when they collected the FA Cup in 2011. Bernard is no stranger to the Scottish Borders and has visited Selkirk FC many times to celebrate Manchester City’s link with local legend Bobby Johnstone. The event which is free starts at 8pm in the clubrooms. All are welcome.

PATRONS SCHEME

The Gala Fairydean Rovers Patrons scheme has been a tremendous success with the names who have all subscribed printed on the boards in the clubrooms. The subscriptions are now due for renewal and can be handed into the clubrooms at weekends or to any committee member.

Forms for new members are also available. As well as supporting the club, Patrons enter a monthly draw with the prizes of hospitality packages for future Gala Fairydean Rovers home games.
