Civil Service Strollers 3

GFR 3

Lowland League

Both teams served up a cracker of a league game on a very wet night in the Capital. Strollers scored a double in the first 11 mins and held a two goal advantage until a minute before half time when Dean McColm picked up the ball in the midfield and let fire from all of 30 yards to send the ball into the top corner. HT 2-1.

After the restart it was GFR who went looking for a leveller and when Stuart Noble was tripped in the box on 50 mins Darren Smith made no mistake with the resulting penalty. Jack Hay put Gala in front on 65 mins after a neat through ball from McColm, Hay made no mistake drilling low into the net from 10 yards.

Strollers rallied and with 5 mins left levelled to the delight of the home bench. McColm seen a last minute effort go inches wide as GFR tried to secure all points , but in the end a share of the spoils on a dreek city night .

GFR Team: Newman, Allan, Windram, Main, Herdman, McColm, Smith, Stephen, Watson, Noble, Hay
